- Pink, yellow and blue glazes are spray-applied to the same cup body using a gradient approach inspired by the traditional Chinese Taohua Dong glaze style. The colors blend into a fresh, softly graduated surface.
- The fine crackle pattern forms as two glaze layers contract differently during cooling, creating tension within the glaze surface.
- The craft requires control of the three glaze colors and their transitions, together with careful matching of the two glaze layers to produce a fine crackle pattern.
- Small variations in color transitions and crackle patterns make each piece individual.
Materials
Porcelain made from an exclusive kaolin blend sourced from Hunan, Jiangxi and Guangdong, China. The blend is formulated for the functional requirements of each cup design. The porcelain body is fired at 1,220°C or higher. Glazes made from natural mineral raw materials provide the finished surface.
