CCCLAY Product Care: Dishwasher Safety and Cleaning

CCCLAY ceramic cups without natural lacquer (urushi), precious-metal decoration or a paint-pen signature are dishwasher safe. Hand wash natural lacquer and precious-metal finishes. Paint-pen signed editions require dry-cloth care only. Follow the instructions for your specific product.

Dishwasher-safe ceramic cups

• CCCLAY ceramic cups without natural lacquer, precious-metal decoration or a paint-pen signature can be cleaned in a dishwasher.
• CCCLAY porcelain cup bodies are fired at 1,220°C or higher. Their high-fired glazes form durable surfaces with glossy or matte finishes.
• This care guidance applies to CCCLAY ceramic cups; follow the separate instructions supplied with products made from other materials.

Catherine Gu signed edition: dry cloth only

The Azure Sky Catherine Gu Signed Edition carries Catherine Gu’s handwritten signature made with a gold-colored paint pen. This signed collectible requires dry-cloth care only.

• Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.
• Do not rinse, hand wash, soak or put the signed edition in a dishwasher.
• Do not scrub the painted signature or use abrasive cleaning tools.

Natural lacquer and precious metals: hand wash only

• Natural lacquer (urushi) pieces: hand wash and follow the care instructions for that finish.
• Precious-metal decoration, including gold or silver rims and relevant hand-painted editions: hand wash and follow the product-specific instructions.

Elysian Pink Crackle: prompt cleaning and stain care

Elysian Pink Crackle uses a high-fired crackle glaze with a white exterior and pink interior. It is dishwasher safe, but prompt cleaning after drinking helps prevent staining in the crackle pattern.

• Clean the cup promptly after each use rather than leaving coffee residue in it.
• If stains develop, soak the cup in water with baking soda, then clean with a soft sponge and rinse thoroughly.
• Dry with a soft cloth. Avoid steel wool and abrasive cleaning tools.

Delicate glassware: hand wash only

Lantern Glow, Clear Octopus, Floating Life and Ripple have delicate hand-shaped glass forms and must be washed by hand. Do not put these four designs in a dishwasher.

Cleaning and drying

• Clean with a soft sponge and dry with a soft cloth.
• Do not use steel wool, abrasive scouring pads or other tools that may scratch the surface.
• Use the instructions for the actual finish on your piece when treating stains; do not assume a treatment suitable for ordinary ceramic glaze is suitable for lacquer or precious-metal decoration.
